TS Saline Agar (Triple Sugar Saline Iron Agar) is a dehydrated culture medium used for the identification of Vibrio species, especially Vibrio parahaemolyticus. It contains three sugars (glucose, lactose, and sucrose), sodium chloride, and ferric ammonium citrate.
Applications:
-Identification of Vibrio species, especially Vibrio parahaemolyticus
-Differentiation of microorganisms on the basis of dextrose, lactose, and sucrose fermentation and hydrogen sulfide production
-Used in food microbiology to test for the presence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a foodborne pathogen that can cause diarrhea and vomiting
